Fiber Quality, Yield, and Profitability of Cotton in Response to Supplemental Irrigation with Treated Wastewater and NPK Fertilization

Cotton yield under the rainfed farming system in tropical semi-arid regions is significantly decreased by prolonged dry spells. In this context, supplemental irrigation (SI) with treated wastewater emerges as a strategy for sustainability of agricultural production besides contributing to reduction fertilizer costs. The objective research was evaluate productivity, photosynthetic parameters, fiber quality, and profitability cotton cultivation, municipal (MTW), without mineral fertilization. treatments consisted three water scenarios (normal, drought, severe drought), defined historical series precipitation data 30 years, two MTW, or NPK SI increased all drought) approximately 29%, 255%, 251%. Longer spells drought volume resulting greater nutrient input soil, improved response, higher physical costs, farmers’ income. Therefore, our results show importance using scarcity regions.
